I think I'm more patient than most...with the mental framing that being impatient and getting my knickers in a twist is only wasting energy. If it's something I can do something about on the other hand...I'll act.

I also find that I have all the patience I own when interacting with those with special needs; it's those without special needs - the typical people - who'll burn my fuse.

I really enjoy your writing style. I find myself smiling a lot as I read your posts and nodding in agreement a great deal.

I have infinite patience with children under the age of ten. Something happens to them (or maybe it's me) past age ten and my ability to be patient drops rapidly.

I am most impatient with adults who have mastered the art of ignorance and have no aspirations to enlightenment. For this reason, I have to limit my social engagements. I can only suppress my disgust for limited time periods and if I mingle too much in polite social settings at some point I will overheat and erupt. Then the little voice of guilt whispering in my ear forces me to do damage control and apologize even though I'm really not sorry at all.

BTW, just read the senate bill and my simple response is, "Oh crap!"

Several years ago my New Year's Resolution was "Explore the Concept of Patience".... because I knew that becoming patient was waaay too big a stretch for me.

I, too, drive my kids nuts with my shuffling feet and rolling eyes while waiting in line at Barnes and Noble ... what is it about that place? That we are sooo anxious to get home and start reading??

Good to hear from Tootie! Our parents were friends after our fathers served together in WWII. The service members and their wives all met each year for an Army reunion, right up until there were too few to gather. I had little patience with my kids and I now regret it. I wanted everything done right now and I wanted it done the way I said. Back then I realize I was that way a lot and did not realize it. Today I take things one day at a time because if it does not get done who cares? I do not even let my gets get my goat.

I do have less patience with people that are being rude. Have you noticed in the grocery store that you are always the one that moves over and you never receive a thank you. Also you pass someone and accidently hit shoulders and you are the only one that says excuse me. You stop the car in the parking lot to let someone walk across and they do not acknowledge you. These are incidents that one day I will probably loose my cool and say something AND when I do I will be accused of ROAD and STORE RAGE.

We must give ourselves credit for being as patient as we are!! We must be easy with ourselves when we hit our "NON PATIENT"
button, after all had long had we been holding it in?

Raising a small child is an exercise in patience, no doubt! But it's the best exercise ever, no doubt :)
