Ah Nance, you speak my language. I turn 55 this year and I've been wondering if I will continue to be middle age. I go shopping and come home feeling depressed with my level of depression depending on how many times I was called ma'am. My sister has pointed out that I should be happy to be addressed politely; however, secretly I want to be called hot mama.

I recently read a bloggers moan that she was soon to turn 40 - "the age at which one becomes socially irrelevant". I laughed out loud. I already saw in my 70th year and still feel relevant as hell. Oh yeah, and I did SS at 65 for whatever its worth.

The way I read the SS benefit table, your monthly benefit gets higher the older you are when you sign up for it. I started drawing SS at 63, and as I understand it, I'll start to lose money when (if) I reach 77. A lot could change between now and then.

The list of OLD AGE symptoms, btw, is too depressing for comment. Makes me feel ancient. Time to trot out old Alf Tennyson...
